Parent/player meeting

8/14/2024

**Update-the plans outlined during this meeting may not reflect actual fall/spring baseball plans. once new head coach is hired we will get clarification on what to expect for fall/spring baseball.**

**Current assistant coaches will lead fall ball until a head coach is hired**

Start Time: 6:32pm
End Time: 7:58pm

From Coach Teadt

Coaches Introductions:
Coach Teadt (head coach),
Coach Noah (varsity),
Coach Zach (varsity/program pitching),
Coach Will (varsity/program hitting coach),
Coach Brandon (varsity 1 st base coach),
Coach Anthony (head JV coach),
Coach Art (JV assistant),
Coach Rudy (JV catching/pitching coach).

Alumni & Record board:
Coach is currently working on an Alumni Banner – the current ones got damaged in the weather.

Going forward home side dugout wall will be the Alumni wall (players who have moved on to play in college.)

Record board in the gym that has not been updated since 2011 will be updated 12 outstanding records that need to be updated. Coach T will maintain throughout the year.

Register my Athlete:
District wide program that has concussion protocol, physical forms, etc. Make sure you go on the site and register and select baseball so coach can see the profile. Need student ID, Ironwood Ridge High School, and name. Very
important to have this created and updated.

District Meeting for athletes:
August 21 st at 7:30am and August 22 nd at 5:00pm at Ironwood Ridge.

If you are not able to make the meetings in August there will be other meetings at other schools.

A parent is required to attend the meeting or else your son will not be able to try out.

From AD: the parent meetings from the district are required for each season. If all parents attend the fall meeting be sure you document that you attended the meeting (just in case, there are a lot of attendees.) If you go to another
school for the meeting, the other school is supposed to share that information with Ironwood. The meeting will be in the auditorium (handout says library lecture hall.)

Physicals:
Must be dated after March 1, 2024 (two forms on register my athlete that you must print out and then you must upload the document.) Load forms in appropriate tabs.

FieldLevel:
Coach T. attended a coach’s convention and almost all the college coaches are using this app. Players can upload videos, stats, GPA, etc. Coach T. can write an evaluation. There is no need for underclass to pay for the premium – free version is fine. Put as many videos as possible in the profile (base running, pitching, different pitches you have, etc.) For the players, be sure to keep your expectations realistic and if you need input from Coach T. you can ask. Any questions please ask Coach T.

Fall Ball:
Starts Sept 4th and ends Nov 8th . Open field will be Monday (4:30-6:15), Wed (2:30-6), Thurs (4:30-6:15).
Sept 4th will be run like a showcase. Everyone can attend open field and will be broken down into two groups (will not be split based on V or JV). A posted open field play will be posted daily so the boys will know what to expect for the day and what group they are in. This fall we will be doing only tournaments that are not associated with the school. There will be a 18u and a 16u teams and will be selected to play by invite only. Selections will be made based on open field outcome and the player will be notified two weeks in advance if they are selected to play. Coach T. is trying to get
another tournament scheduled for 16u. Just because someone is on the 18u team does NOT mean they are a varsity player; just because someone is on the 16u team does NOT mean they are on JV. Per tournament there will only be fifteen kids invited.

Veterans Day tournament:
16u and 18u tournaments will be on different weekends. After those tournaments they will be done until January so they can spend time with family during the holiday season.

Misc:
During open field for fall if your player does not want to play, that is okay and there will be nothing held against them. However, during the spring season it will be mandatory for players to attend all practices, games, and team functions or else there will be consequences. If you do not play during the fall, please be sure to continue
developing.

Spring Season:
To be clear – we will have two teams and that is it. One varsity and one JV. We cannot accommodate three teams at our facility due to factors like no lights, and the JV field is not the best quality. Just like last year JV will practice on JV field; and share cages. Try our best to do the most we can while the sun is still up. During the season for varsity there will be practice before school, if possible, try not to have a first hour. If a player does not have a zero hour and are on varsity, they will be required to attend the practice before school.

Spring Baseball Tryouts: Feb 10 th , 2025. Cuts will be made Feb 13 th , 2025. Tryouts/cuts will be a little different this year – everything will be done in writing, one on one conversation will still take place, and a piece of paper will be given to the player with their evaluation details. If they get cut the feedback will be provided in writing.
Coach T. will also give leagues that the player can play on. As of right now, there will be roughly 17-18 on V and 15-16 JV. The reason for less on the roster is to make sure the
players that make the team have an actual role. Best 9-10 players on each team will play. If you are not a starter, you will have a role that is in writing that is your value to the
team. Example: Player A you will be the backup player on 1 st base, and a chance to be a DH. Coach T. did not do a good job managing both teams as in making sure each player knows what team they are on. There will no longer be any snuffling in-between JV and V, unless there are issues such as injuries, grades, etc.

Spring Pre-Season Tournament:
will be in Casa Grande.

Spring Break Tournament:
will be in Tucson (Chris Moon).

Misc games:
Military Appreciation Game
(post 136 will attend)

Cancer Awareness Game
JV and V will do cancer awareness game. This year the players will get a nice custom jersey – not open to families. Player can get their last name or a family members last name (no nicknames; will only allow Grandma/Grandpa,
Nana/Tata.) Must be players last name or the family members first and last name. Pink ribbon will be spray painted on the field.

Little League Game
Varsity Game

team shop-using victory sports
Will open the shop twice. first week of November and then again, the first week of actual practice.

Hats
We will more than likely have hats to sell during the baseball games for family/friends.

Grade Checks:
School will not do grade checks during the off season, but Coach T. can do grade checks. School comes first and baseball comes second – freshman need to build good study habits, transition into HS well, etc. If you need to miss open field during the fall to focus on grades then, do it. During the fall and winter grades need to be a priority. During the season if grades are not passing, you will miss 33% of the season due to ineligibility. If tutoring is needed, ask Coach T. so he can offer support, and the school will offer free tutoring during the season.

Weightlifting Program (worden physique:
Alex graduated from Ironwood and played baseball here as
well. Alex and wife have been working with the boys since the summer and will continue throughout the fall. Have been working on the proper form, teaching more about their
body (growing, nutrition, water intake, etc.)

run from Sept 5th - Nov 8th
Mondays & Wednesdays early am and PM slots at worden physique. Saturday am agility at arthur pack.

fee will be $150 per player.

Coach T. would like as much participation as possible to help create a team bond because they will all be experiencing and working through the same workout. If there are any financial hurdles, please reach out to Coach T. for assistance.

From David Garwacki (New AD)

Athletic equipment can be stored and locked, so everything is safe.

Athletic fees did go up by the governing board for the first time in about 15-20 years due to increase of costs.
Participation fee can be paid through the bookstore and do not have to be paid until your player makes the team.
On register my athlete there is a spot for payment but that does not matter until after tryouts and if your player makes the team.

Meal money approved is now $10 a player. School will cover meals within 70 miles (last year was 90 miles.) AIA is aware
spring starts date start a week later but will most likely not get revised – this will make an impact when it comes to pitch count. All spring sports are impacted but this was due
to AIA.

Boosters:

President Jeff – please pick up to hand outs before you leave. Click the QR code, and fill out information, and includes volunteer information.

Golf Tournament
We will be hosting a golf tournament, but our previous course canceled last minute – trying to find a new course. The players need to help getting sponsors to help cover expenses. There will be player incentive based on how many sponsors each player can get – different incentives for items for amount collected.

Youth Baseball Tournament

We will be doing the baseball tournament again.
